Stockroot

Stockroot questions, answered.

Every answer here describes what Stockroot does today. Where the answer is “no” or “not yet”, it says so.

What is Stockroot?

Stockroot is web-based inventory and business management software built by DetSol for trading and distribution businesses in Pakistan. It records stock in each godown, purchase and sales orders, deliveries, invoices, payments and payroll in one system, so stock levels and customer and supplier balances come from the same records.

Who builds Stockroot?

Stockroot is built and operated by DetSol, a software company in Lahore, Pakistan. DetSol runs Stockroot in production, including deployments, migrations, backups and support. DetSol's other products include Expenddy and SaveBox.

Who is Stockroot for?

Stockroot is for businesses in Pakistan that buy from suppliers, keep stock in one or more godowns or warehouses, and sell to other businesses, often on credit. Typical examples are distributors, wholesalers and trading companies that deliver and receive orders in parts.

What is Stockroot not built for yet?

Stockroot does not currently offer point-of-sale counter billing, barcode scanning, batch, lot or expiry tracking, FBR-integrated digital invoicing, manufacturing with bills of materials, bin or shelf locations, or an Urdu interface. It is also not a full double-entry accounting package with a balance sheet.

What makes Stockroot built for Pakistan?

Pakistani conventions are the defaults rather than settings you correct after signup. Stockroot works in Pakistani rupees, uses Asia/Karachi as its timezone and +92 phone formats, records NTN against customers and suppliers, and can print your company NTN and bank details on invoices and orders.

Can Stockroot handle more than one godown or warehouse?

Yes. Stock is held per warehouse. Each product shows quantity on hand, quantity reserved for confirmed sales orders, quantity available, and its value at weighted-average cost. Stock moves between warehouses with transfers that are sent and then received.

How does Stockroot keep stock figures accurate?

Stock only changes through a recorded document: a goods receipt, a delivery, a return, a transfer or an approved stock adjustment. Each one is saved as a stock movement with its date and document number, so every quantity can be traced back to what changed it.

Can I receive or deliver part of an order?

Yes. Each goods receipt or delivery in Stockroot records the quantity that actually moved, and the rest of the order stays open. A delivery raises an invoice for what was delivered, and a receipt creates the supplier bill for what was received.

Does Stockroot handle attendance and payroll?

Yes. Stockroot keeps employee records and leave requests, attendance timesheets that can be imported, and monthly payroll runs that use attendance, with salary payments recorded against your bank accounts. Each employee has their own ledger.

What reports does Stockroot include?

Stockroot's reports include stock on hand, product performance, sales and purchase summaries, receivables and payables summaries, aging, cash position, party balances and payroll. The dashboard shows revenue, gross profit and cash, with a monthly profit and loss chart. Reports can be exported to CSV, Excel or PDF.

Can I control what each member of staff can see?

Yes. Stockroot includes ready-made roles — admin, sales manager, purchase manager, inventory manager, accountant, sales executive, store keeper and viewer — and you can create your own roles from individual permissions. Actions such as confirming purchase orders have their own permissions, and a guide inside the app explains what each permission grants.

Can Stockroot use our own logo and colours?

Yes. Each Stockroot workspace can upload its own logo, including a variant for dark mode, and a favicon, and set its own colours. Your logo, company NTN and bank details can also appear on printed invoices and orders.

Can I print invoices on A4 or a thermal printer?

Yes. Stockroot prints quotations, orders and invoices on A4, A5, Letter, Legal or 80 mm thermal paper, and you choose what each document shows.

Can I import my existing product list into Stockroot?

Yes. Stockroot imports a product catalogue from an Excel or CSV file using a fixed template with four columns: category, product name, unit and pack size.

Does Stockroot handle sales tax and NTN?

Sales tax can be switched on per company in Stockroot and set per document line, and NTN is recorded against customers and suppliers. Stockroot is not integrated with FBR digital invoicing and does not file returns on your behalf.

How do I get Stockroot for my business?

Get in touch with DetSol through detsol.com/contact, or use the contact options on stockroot.pk. Stockroot runs as a private workspace at an address of the form yourcompany.stockroot.pk, set up per business, and there is no public self-serve signup.

Is there a Stockroot mobile app?

There is no separate Stockroot mobile app. Stockroot is a web application that runs in any modern browser and is installable as a progressive web app, so it can be added to a desktop or tablet home screen and opened like an app.
